Leaving Traces

Brina will present an interactive durational performance in collaboration with and response to "TRACE" a mixed exhibition of multimedia, digital, interactive installations.  

What traces are left when the human body and the digital one overlap, intertwine, collide? What happens in the spaces where we co-exist? Where is the divide where one body ends and another begins?

Engel Zwischendurch

Danger (safety). Love (hate). And no way out. You can find me there.  Fire, ice, confinement, and shortness of breath. 

Will you reach out to me?

The performer situates herself in a doorway, confined in plastic, with ice melting above, and fire burning beneath.  She attempts to communicate with the world outside without words.

A durational performance lasting 2-4 hours.

Underneath

The performer takes on an animal-like presence, and attempts to fight her way through a massive spiderweb of red rope and falling objects, in a silent discussion with the audience about the need to escape.

An interactive solo performance piece created on commission by WIR Performance Art Festival at WIR Gallery, Berlin.

Intimate

I want to give you something... (a secret, a scar, a kiss)  Don't be afraid. 

Three people at a time are invited to enter a small secluded space, and share an intimate experience with the performer one by one, while the others watch in close proximity.

A performance installation which confronts proximity and intimacy.  An intense individualized experience for one person at a time.  An intimate moment in a public space.

Untitled (do you trust me?)

This piece is an experiential experiment, performed for one person at a time in the dark.  It is a personalized guided exploration of the senses, utilizing touch, sound, movement, and text.  It is the first part of a trilogy of pieces dealing in the method of one person guided experience.

Lullaby

...You're searching for something you've forgotten how to define, and the memory of it haunts you... Like that little part of you that only wants to watch the cars crash... I'm waiting...
Lullaby is a full length site specific performance in light, sound, smell, texture, movement and images. It is a sensual exploration into the subconscious and collective memory.

Essential Invisible Region

A performance piece based on The Order of Things by Michel Foucault. The piece was commissioned for the finissage of the group exhibition Die Ordnung der Dinge.

Red Dress

A durational performance installation in which a woman is attached with red rope to the outer walls of the space, and a red dress which hangs barely out of reach.  The dress moves with her movements, as she attempts to express joy, frustration, longing and despair within the confines of her restrictions.

In Process

A series of performance installations commissioned by 401contemporary Fine Art Gallery in Berlin. Over the period of one month, a new performance was created every day, and performed for a duration of two hours, developed in response to the ongoing renovations of the gallery space.

5 Days of Doom

A site specific performance created to compliment the exhibition "5 Days of Doom" created by London based street art team Agents of Change.  The piece explored the method of creation used by the artists, as well as their personal stories and histories connected to their work.

Skinless

Originally created by commission of Scalamata Gallery in Venice, IT. It was presented as a parallel exhibition to the 2008 Vienna Architecture Bienalle with the theme “Water and Stone”.

The piece is a site specific “living sculpture” performance installation with text.
